AKRON, Ohio – September 11, 2013—In support of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month, DJ Mr. King announced that he will DJ for 24 consecutive hours in an effort to raise $3,000 for breast cancer research and awareness. The event, dubbed Scratchin’ To Survive, will kick off Friday, October 11 @3pm at NEXT Clothing store (located at 837 West Market Street Akron, Ohio in Highland Square).
Scratchin’ To Survive, which will donate all proceeds to the American Cancer Society to support the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, is a pledge-based event where supporters can go online (www.scratchintosurvive.com) to commit $2 per minute toward the ultimate goal. From the website, donors can track the progress of the goal as well as stay up to date with news, special additions, and more in regards to the event.
“To be able to challenge myself with my passion for a purposeful cause is a great thing,” said King, an Akron native who DJs across the country. “Twenty-four hours is a long time to DJ, but what better way to help others live by doing what you love.”
Scratchin’ To Survive is an open to the public event that will conclude Saturday, October 12 @ 3pm with a special presentation to the American Cancer Society.
Supporters can choose to stop by for a quick peek at the event, or camp out to hear a multi-genre selection of music over night on the storefront. Restaurants in the Highland Square area will have discounted prices in support of the event, in addition to raffle drawings and giveaways at the top of every hour. Footage of the entire event will be streamed live online and documented via social media hourly.
